Field Day!
We had a good ol' fashion field day, Friday, May 17th. The day was complete with relay races, tug of war ( in which the kids beat the adults), potato sack races and three legged races. The rain clouds even stayed away so we could enjoy ourselves in the sunshine. What a great day!
Soccer
The Shoshone Middle School had their first annual soccer tournament on April 26th. Two teams of seven, Real Madrid (Green) and Team Late Work (Red), competed in two 20-minute matches to see who could be called Shoshone's best. The first match was a resounding win for Real Madrid with a 4 to 2 lead going into the second game; but Team Late Work brought their A-game in the second match. They answered back with their own 4 to 2 win over Real Madrid, forcing the two sides to go into penalty kicks to determine a winner. Five players from each team took a shot at goal. Team Late Work were able to find the back of the net once, but Real Madrid shocked the other side with two goals, winning the tournament. Congratulations to Real Madrid for a well-deserved win, and a thanks goes to Team Late Work for proving to be formidable opponents. A good time was had by all.

Outdoor enrichment!
Kindergarteners, First and Second graders went for a BLM park ranger-led hike and a behind the scenes tour at Webb Nursery Friday, May 10th. This enrichment was designed to provide a real-life connection to the first grader's Storyline theme of a native plant nursery. Park ranger, Casey Bryant led the group on a hike up Knotch Butte and discussed the importance of native plants, especially during fire season. Then we were off to Webb Nursery where the kids got to plant their own plants and (led by Lisa Mitchell and Sheena Box) toured the nursery to see the ins and outs of a local nursery.
